Lady Gloria Jean Taylor

First Lady Gloria Jean Taylor, much like the expensive ointment contained in Mary’s alabaster box, is of immense value to the ministry God ordained at the Holy City Church Of God In Christ. With a mind to work and a selfless spirit, her worth is equally evident from a jurisdictional perspective as she humbly fulfills the responsibilities of First Lady of the Tennessee Fifth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. A woman of grace who immerses herself in prayer and the study of God’s word, she has reverently served the Lord for over 39 years.

One of her strengths and perhaps her greatest gift is her distinct ability to uplift the people of God. It is literally impossible to sit in her presence for any length of time, broken, hurt or discouraged, and not emerge encouraged and uplifted with a renewed sense of hope. When you hurt, she hurts. Her sincerity is so real it is as if it becomes tangible. If you seek her counsel, with wisdom she is there to offer non-judgmental, Godly inspired support. Lady Taylor motivates women to work within their call and inevitably becomes the catalyst in developing effective ministerial leaders. As such, it is not uncommon for her to take the back seat while pushing others forward.

A dynamic speaker in her own right, Lady Taylor is a licensed Evangelist Missionary in the Church Of God In Christ. At her local church, she is a prayer warrior and the president of the Women’s Department where she oversees a number of departments which minister to the needs of women of all ages. On the jurisdictional level, she serves as president of the Elders and Minister’s Wives Circle and oversees the Nina Lowe Scholarship Committee. She has been honored with numerous awards including a Certificate of Recognition (Memphis City Council and Shelby County), 12 Most Outstanding Women (Memphis Inter-Denominational Fellowship), Women of Achievement Award (International District Missionary Unit – Church Of God In Christ) and the esteemed honor of being inducted into the Church Of God In Christ Bishop Wives Circle.

Her character, strength and courage not only exemplify the qualities of a woman to be admired but also expresses a stellar example of who a first lady should be. Lady Taylor is the heartbeat of Holy City who after 46 years of marriage to Bishop Jerry Taylor, and counting, continues to faithfully walk beside him as a partner in ministry. A ministry whereby she accounts every victory, every defeat to the glory of God
